Recent evidence approves the advantage of osteoanabolic therapy over anti-resorptive drugs for more bone density increment and rapid fracture risk reduction improvement. Therefore, it provides strong justification for using these anabolic agents as the initial therapy in high-risk patients, to be followed by anti-resorptive treatment. This MTP will highlight the results of recent studies and define the current status of osteoanabolic treatment for osteoporosis.

In this session, Professor John WALSH of the University of Western Australia will introduce the study results and latest findings on changes in thyroid function with age. Aging is an important factor that can affect the functional changes of the pituitary-thyroid axis, and it is well known that autoimmune thyroid disease and nodular thyroid disease both increase with age. While the tendency of TSH to increase with age has been confirmed in several studies, the change in TSH with age is not clearly seen in Korea, where iodine intake is high. This session will be a good opportunity to introduce and discuss the latest findings on whether change in thyroid function with aging is a clinically important issue.
