ESA-KES Joint Symposium: Testosterone Treatment and T4DM Day 2, October 29(Fri), 2021 / 16:30-18:00 / Room 3 / LIVE Overview
Organizer: Minhee KIM (The Catholic University of Korea)
In SICEM 2021, Endocrine Society Australia (ESA) and Korean Endocrine Society (KES) will have the first meaningful joint symposium. At the symposium, three outstanding speakers from KES and ESA will have talks on testosterone from basic to clinical perspectives. As there has been evidence that showed the association of low testosterone and adverse health outcomes such as type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis, applying testosterone in management of metabolic disease is one of hot topics in endocrine field. However, there are still lack of data justifying the use of testosterone for long term management of metabolic disease. To acquire fundamental understanding of testosterone replacement, Dr. Choi Man-ho from KES, who had various research focusing on translational steroidomics and adrenal steroidogenesis, will present the basic metabolic pathways of androgen. From ESA, Dr. Gary Wittert and Dr. Mathis Grossmann, who recently conducted interesting clinical trials which applied testosterone for improvement of bone health and for prevention of diabetes mellitus, will have presentations to provide possible clinical benefit of testosterone and further insight for clinical use of testosterone and further research.
